Overview

The Health Industries Alliance brings together the innovative health industries to encourage dialogue and collaboration for innovation and access.

The Alliance was founded by IFPMA, the International Council of Biotechnology Associations, the Global Diagnostic Imaging, Healthcare IT and Radiation Therapy Trade Association, and the Global Self-Care Federation.

Depending on the issue, the group is also joined by ad-hoc members such as Global Medical Technology Alliance.

Purpose

Establishes

a platform for the exchange of information of mutual interest.

Advocates

the value of innovation through a supportive and sustainable ecosystem for the global health industries, including supporting sound Intellectual Property systems, regulatory systems, scientific research and business ethics.

Promotes

a holistic approach to access and affordability.

Responds

to health emergencies and supports global health security.

Promotes

patient safety and ethical conduct involving healthcare professionals.

Innovation

Meeting the highly ambitious 17 goals and 169 targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 and ensuring adequate response to global health crisis will require further scientific breakthroughs and strategic innovations.

Global health industries such as biopharmaceuticals, biotech, diagnostics, medical devices, vaccines, diagnostic imaging and data and digital medical industries and others have a fundamental role to play in contributing to the diverse treatment and prevention ecosystem of which they are part by working alongside public and private providers, health professionals, hospitals and clinics, laboratory services, and health insurers.

The Alliance is committed to delivering high-quality healthcare to people worldwide as well as safeguarding innovation and promoting access to innovation.
